
This premise for this project was to make a mundane object into a monochromatic color reduction woodcut. A color reduction woodcut is a process where you cut out the lightest layers first. Then as you go to the darker layers you remove more and more material until there is only the part that would be the darkest sections left on the block.
I chose a traffic cone because it's something that you see often out in the world, and thought that it would make for an interesting subject. The title comes from looking back at childhood where I might have seen the cone as some kind of wizard hat.
